Message from the Minister of Advanced Education and Technology
International Adult Learners’ Week
As the Minister of Advanced Education and Technology, I am pleased to recognize the Learning Resource Centre at the University of Calgary for hosting a successful and educational panel discussion during International Adult Learners’ Week 2011.
The Learning Resource Centre took a leadership role in organizing the panel discussion and encouraging dialogue between stakeholders across government, academia and community organizations. This valuable discussion not only raised the profile of adult learning and literacy, it also highlighted some of learning opportunities available to Albertans.
Literacy continues to be a key focus of our province as these skills are critical for our citizens, skilled workforce and future prosperity. Our government continues to work with our partners to promote adult learning, and I thank the Learning Resource Centre for encouraging dialogue on this topic and helping us to support lifelong learning.
Greg Weadick
Minister
