Message from the Minister of Advanced Education and Technology
University of Alberta Convocation
On behalf of the Government of Alberta, I am pleased to congratulate the University of Alberta’s graduating class of 2011.
Graduation is a tremendous achievement in your life. It is a time to celebrate with friends and family, a time to reflect and a time to envision the future you see for yourself.
As a graduate of the University of Alberta, I know that the skills and knowledge you have gained will serve you well in whatever future you choose. Whether that future involves starting a career, joining the ranks of Alberta’s entrepreneurs or pursuing further education or professional development, your time at the U of A will prove invaluable as you navigate your chosen path.
Whatever you see for yourself, I hope that you see it happening right here in Alberta. Educated, skilled and innovative people are a big part of what I envision for Alberta’s future.
You have built a foundation at one of Alberta’s most distinguished institutions for learning and research. This, partnered with the passion you have for your chosen field, will lead you on an exciting journey. Whether you are driven by technology, the arts, business or science, your contributions will be meaningful.
While your formal education may be ending, I encourage you to keep exploring, achieving and creating.
Best wishes to you in all of your future endeavours.
Greg Weadick
Minister
