Students Finance Board

The Students Finance Board was established under Section 4 of the Students Finance Act in 1953, which was consolidated with the Student Loans Act into the Student Financial Assistance Act.

The Board advises the Minister of Enterprise and Advanced Education on matters pertaining to student financial assistance, including scholarships under the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Act. As stated in the Alberta Heritage Scholarship Act, the Minister may establish separate committees for the specific purpose of reviewing and advising on scholarships as required. The Board also conducts research on financial assistance for post-secondary students as specified by the Minister and reports the results to the Minister.
