Alberta Research and Innovation Act
The Alberta Research and Innovation Act and the Alberta Research and Innovation Regulation came into force on January 1, 2010.
The Act and related Regulation set out requirements for the agencies established under the Act.
The legislation
- sets out a governance model, in alignment with the Public Agencies Governance Framework, to support coordination, integration and accountability
- continues two endowment funds that were in previous legislation
- establishes the Alberta Research and Innovation Authority, an advisory body, to provide advice to the Minister on research and innovation matters, related to the purposes of the Act
- establishes, by Regulation, four provincial research and innovation corporations and sets out details on their role
