Apprenticeship budget jumps to $43 million for Alberta
Edmonton... A $15-million boost to apprenticeship funding will help apprentices access the technical training portion of their apprenticeship program. This will help meet employers' needs for tradespeople in various industries and regions across the province. Nearly 3,000 additional in-class training seats will be available for apprentices.

Leaders in research and innovation to head Alberta’s largest water research initiative
Edmonton – Twelve well-respected leaders from academia, business and government are set to lend their expertise in environmental stewardship, water quality and policy development to form the Management Advisory Board for the new Alberta Water Research Institute, a $30 million Alberta government investment announced in November 2006 to implement a water research strategy focused on safe drinking water, efficient water use and healthy watersheds.
