Edmonton... Capping one of the busiest construction seasons in its history, the Alberta government has invested more than $4.1 billion in new paved roads, new and upgraded schools, expanded post-secondary institutes and health infrastructure.
Nov 23 Apprentices awarded $232,000 through industry and provincial support
Edmonton... A record 232 apprentices have been awarded Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training scholarships valued at $1,000 each. Apprentices from 38 of the 50 trades have received scholarships, including a record 30 women and 10 Aboriginal people.

A new project at the University of Alberta is using the latest in high-tech gene chip research to understand why transplanted kidneys often fail in the long-term. This research, in partnership with Japan- and US-based Astellas Pharma Inc., may lead to development of a drug to prevent the organ’s failure.
Nov 02 384 high school students receive apprenticeship scholarships
Edmonton... Registered Apprenticeship Program (RAP) scholarships have been awarded to 384 high school graduates participating in the program. The Alberta government partners with industry to fund the annual $1000 scholarships.
Nov 01 $23 million makeover boosts Medicine Hat College student spaces by almost 600
Medicine Hat... Students and employers in the Medicine Hat area will benefit from an Alberta government contribution of more than $23 million to expand and upgrade its college. Renovations will enable Medicine Hat College to open nearly 600 student spaces, about 400 of which directly benefit the trades industry.
