Lakeland College expands and diversifies with government funding
Vermilion... The Alberta government is providing more than $3.4 million to Lakeland College to increase its capacity to accommodate 600 additional learners in trades and industrial training programs, and to upgrade existing structures. The province has also provided funding for a sign language interpreter diploma program to start in 2008.

New building will provide more space for management education and health sciences students
Lethbridge ... Capacity for 450 students in health (nursing and addictions counselling) and management studies programs will be added at the University of Lethbridge as a result of the Alberta government’s $50-million investment in the university’s Markin Building project, which will house the School of Health Sciences and Faculty of Management. Government will also provide another $18 million for upgrading University Hall.

Government adds up to 1,300 training seats at Lethbridge College

The Alberta government is investing $8.5 million to modernize the trades facility at Lethbridge College, providing for the possibility of up to 1,300 additional student spaces in its trade and industrial training programs. An additional $2.2 million will help to enhance the college’s safety and emergency response system.

Alberta Ingenuity launches bold new $100 million research program
Calgary – Alberta Ingenuity is setting out on a new path that will significantly change the research funding landscape in Canada. Similar to approaches taken at elite institutions around the world, such as the Carnegie Institute at Stanford University, the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, and the Institute for Quantum Computing at the University of Waterloo, the Ingenuity Accelerators program is based on providing significant levels of financial support to attract outstanding researchers to work in areas important to Alberta’s economic future.
