Equipment grants help Alberta's researchers unleash innovation
Edmonton... Research projects studying CO2 sequestration, tumour progression, spinal cord injuries and wildlife protection were among the recipients of funding through the Alberta Government's Small Equipment Grants Program. The program enables new and established Alberta researchers to obtain equipment and tools necessary to create or continue their leading-edge work.

Edmonton to be site of world's first industrial scale municipal waste-to-ethanol facility
Edmonton... Edmonton will be home to the world's first industrial scale facility to produce biofuels from municipal solid waste. The City has signed a 25-year agreement with GreenField Ethanol, Canada's largest ethanol producer and Enerkem, a leading biofuels technology company.

Alberta will help commercialize a new application of AMPAKINE compounds through a partnership with California-based Cortex Pharmaceuticals, the University of Alberta, and spin-off company, Neurochemical Modulation Inc.
