What to Consider

Choosing your path isn’t easy. If there’s one thing Campus Alberta offers, it’s options!

So, how do you decide what post-secondary program to take or which institution to attend?

Decisions like these should relate to your interests, values and dreams. Think about these questions to help make relevant decisions about your career.

  • What occupation or career path interests you? Learn about the educational requirements for specific occupations on OCCinfo.
  • What are any skill shortages you see in your community?
  • Would you like to work for yourself or for someone else? What is your risk tolerance?
  • Would you like to use your learning to help others?
  • Do you want to spend more time on the job than in the classroom, or are you willing to commit a dedicated block of time to your learning?
  • Would you rather pay for your education upfront, or are you willing to use a variety of funding options to invest in yourself (including borrowing money)?
  • Is it important that you remain in your community to learn, or would you like to move to a new place?
  • What does success mean to you?
  • What will it take for you to get there?

In the end, it’s up to you to research your options and come up with a decision that is right for you.
