Access to the Future Fund
The Access to the Future Fund supports innovation and excellence within Alberta’s advanced learning system. It serves to enhance and expand accessible, affordable and high quality learning opportunities for Albertans.
Established in 2005 by the Access to the Future Act, the Fund receives income from an endowment that is targeted to reach $3 billion at full implementation. The Minister of Advanced Education and Technology administers the Fund based on advice and recommendations from the Access Advisory Council.
Through two unique programs, the Renaissance Fund and the Innovation Fund, the Fund plays an important role in moving Alberta’s advanced learning system to the next levels of innovation and excellence.
As announced in Budget 2013, Access to the Future fund programs are suspended for another three years. These programs are under review to ensure alignment with government and ministry priorities, and to ensure programs meet the needs of Albertans.
