Access to the Future Fund
The Access to the Future Fund supports innovation and excellence within Alberta’s advanced learning system—publicly funded post-secondary institutions, community learning providers and the apprenticeship and industry training system. It serves to enhance and expand accessible, affordable and high quality learning opportunities for Albertans.
Established in 2005 by the Access to the Future Act, the program is funded from an endowment held within the Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund . The Minister administers the Access to the Future Fund and determines the most appropriate mechanisms for its use.
Given the challenging economic times, government has a responsibility to ensure all public spending is carefully and efficiently managed. Government is suspending grants from the Access to the Future Fund for this fiscal year and expects $50 million in savings this fiscal year due to the suspension of payments.
