Alberta launches new research institute with support from renowned international philanthropic organization

MINISTER OF NATIONAL DEFENCE ANNOUNCES NEW VIRTUAL REALITY SYSTEM AT THE GLENROSE REHABILITATION HOSPITAL

The Minister of National Defence, the Honourable Peter MacKay, today announced a $1.5-million fund for the purchase of a computer-assisted rehabilitation environment (CAREN) system at the Glenrose Rehabilitation Hospital. Alberta Health Services and Canadian Forces Health Services are joined in a partnership to provide advanced rehabilitation services to injured Canadian Forces (CF) personnel and other patients.  Alberta Advanced Education and Technology is providing $250,000 from its Innovation Agency Project Grant, for product development and evaluation of the CAREN system.
