Publicly Funded Institutions

There are 26 publicly funded post-secondary institutions in Alberta. These institutions receive several types of funding from Innovation and Advanced Education and are governed by the Post-Secondary Learning Act.

Letters of Expectation

The Letters of Expectation were first introduced in Budget 2013 and these are the first Letters of Expectation for an entire academic year.

These Letters which were signed by both the Deputy Premier and institutions’ Board Chairs at Government House on November 7th, 2013 were established following an eight month collaborative process between the government and all 26 Campus Alberta post-secondary institutions. Each letter has common parts but is customized to include institution and sector specific outcomes. The letters will be reviewed on an annual basis and Innovation and Advanced Education will work with each institution towards the outcomes outlined in each letter.
