Research Capacity Planning (RCP)

Research Capacity Planning is responsible for implementing a system planning approach for the coordination and identification of research priorities for Alberta’s provincially-funded research and innovation system.   The system planning approach provides a venue for post-secondary institutions to communicate their research and research funding priorities to Innovation and Advanced Education, and to respond to Government of Alberta priorities.

Research Capacity Planning provides core infrastructure support to leverage federal funding, particularly the current and future core programs offered by the Canada Foundation for Innovation, and coordinates key targeted investments in strategic research initiatives and research capacity platforms.

Alberta Innovation and Advanced Education's research infrastructure funding will continue to occur in coordination with the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI).
